Introducing The Doctor

Dr. Alexa Sheppard is a chiropractic physician and Clinical Director of Colorado Accident and Injury Clinic in Thornton. She specializes in helping patients recover from injuries and return to a healthy, active lifestyle. With practical, hands-on experience, Dr. Sheppard emphasizes movement, recovery, and long-term wellness in her care.
Dr. Sheppard was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She grew up around chiropractic care, as some of her family members were also chiropractors, which gave her an early understanding of how effective this type of treatment can be. Another reason her interest in chiropractic care grew is her love for sports. She saw firsthand how injuries could be treated and recovered from, through chiropractic care, which inspired her to pursue a career in this field.

Dr. Sheppard earned her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from DePauw University in Indianapolis. After graduating, she went to the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois, to complete her Doctorate in Chiropractic care.

Following her degree, she began her practice in Indianapolis, treating patients with musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries, and auto-accident injuries. During this time, she learned both traditional chiropractic techniques, like spinal adjustments, and modern treatment techniques, like dry needling and soft tissue therapy.
